Trio Accounting

The situation.

Trio Accounting is a small accounting practice. Nickie Sheehan founded it to build something that helped clients grow, not to spend her week buried in compliance production.

The structural problem in any small practice is the same one. Compliance execution scales linearly with client base. Workpapers, statutory accounts, income tax returns – every new client adds hours that have to be billed but do not generate strategic value. The partner is the most expensive resource and the most likely to do this work. The economics get worse as the firm grows.

The options are usually three: hire (high overhead, capacity comes in lumps), defer (compliance backlog, missed deadlines, reputational risk), or do it all yourself (cap on growth, burnout, quality drift at the margin).

Nickie did not want any of those.

What we changed.

Admin Army's APS line is structured for exactly this. Year-end compliance production as a service. Workpapers, statutory financial statements, tax returns, supporting schedules – delivered to the firm's standard, signed off by the practice. The firm keeps the relationship and the review. Admin Army handles the execution underneath.

For Trio, this meant compliance capacity from day one without hiring. Anit and Lorna built the working relationship over years. The work goes out the door at the standard Trio's clients expect, because it has to – their name is on it.

The structural change is not "Admin Army does the workpapers". It is that the practice is no longer rate-limited by Nickie's personal compliance hours.

The outcome.

Compliance production no longer bottlenecks the practice's growth. Nickie's time is spent on the work that builds the firm – client relationships, advisory, strategic conversations – not on the production line behind them.

The firm has since expanded its scope with Admin Army into bookkeeping, which sits one layer below compliance in the same operational logic. The structural risk of single-handedly operating a finance function is removed for those clients too.

The reputational point matters: the work goes out under Trio's brand. Clients see Trio's quality. The fact that Admin Army is operating underneath does not surface, because the seam holds.
